Lakme Fashion Week (LFW) 2016: Manish Malhotra kick starts the opening day with his collection ‘Elements’

An iconic name to the fashion and film, acclaimed fashion and costume designer Manish Malhotra opened the Lakme Fashion Week Summer/Resort 2016 yesterday at Mehboob studios, Bandra with an off-site show.

His show, which has been based on the theme, “elements of nature- Air, Earth, Fire and Water’ brings out the dichotomy of beauty and power that is present in these four elements; similar to the play of confidence and demureness, traditional and glamour that is seen in a contemporary bride.

Malhotra, who showcased his new Summer Resort 2016 collection, had said in a statement, “This is going to be a special show for me – as it marks the beginning of another decade of my label. Because of my long standing and extremely fruitful relationship with Lakme Fashion Week, I feel totally at home here.”  He also said, “The show will be dedicated to beauty and to celebrate the feel of summer. This whole collection is very much focused on that.”

With eleven fresh faces that walked the ramp, the dapper Ki and Ka actor, Arjun Kapoor was the showstopper, being paired for the Roy star, Jacqueline Fernandez.

Models walked the ramp exuberating style and confidence in their embellished gowns, breezy jumpsuits, embellished gowns and structured tops. Each outfit had layers of fabulous tussar, organza and crepe in pastel hues of powder blue, baby pink, orange and light green.

Jacqueline Fernandez looked stunning in a shimmery silver evening gown.
